HMB Soft armor: how to choose the right kit

Every HMB Soft athlete should have the special equipment, and now we’d like to have a look at what exactly it should be, because safety in training our young athletes is our priority.

What makes HMB Soft a safe sport? Not only soft weapons, but also the right armor. Every HMB Soft athlete should have the special equipment, and now we’d like to have a look at what exactly it should be, because safety in training our young athletes is our priority.

Those who are already engaged in HMB Soft know that it is imperative to have the following:

– helmet;
– vest;
– elbow pads;
– knee pads;
– a glove for an armed hand;
– groin protection;

Sergey Myasishchev, head of the HMBIA Marshal Committee, told how to choose the right equipment for HMB Soft, which must be strictly specialized, and what you can save on:

The main thing is the HELMET. It must be certified specifically for this sport, because the head of the athlete must be completely safe.

Next is the vest. It’s easier here – vests from many martial arts are suitable, although special ones are recommended that are adapted to the needs of our sport.

Elbow pads and knee pads for rollerblading or skateboarding will work sufficiently. You can buy them at any sports store.

The armed hand glove must completely cover the fighter’s hand. There are no strict regulations here. One-piece protection is perfectly acceptable.

Groin protectors – you can buy any hard sports protection. This is a mandatory minimum for the HMB soft athlete. ”

Equipment should not be too tight or too loose. When lacing a vest before a fight, it should be kept in mind that the athlete must move and breathe comfortably in it.

Sergey Myasishchev noted that at the official big HMB Soft competitions you can always get certified helmets, vests, shields and swords from the special commissioner of HMBIA. This specialist is called upon to monitor the armor of the participants.

For example, a participant of the HMB Soft World Championship or the Russian Championship can always get the equipment at the tournament location. However, HMBIA strives to provide specialized equipment for young tournament participants around the world. In addition, the participant can use shields and swords provided ONLY by organizers. A participant can use his own equipment at the tournament, but only if it is specialized and certified. Such equipment can be recognized by the HMB Soft logo on it.

“Basically, an athlete at the HMB Soft event should have his own knee pads, elbow pads, groin protection and hand protection, but the commissioners have all this and any participant can get them during a tournament. And prize-winners of major tournaments often receive items of equipment as prizes”, said the head of the Marshal Committee.

HMBIA is committed to ensuring that our young athletes are safe and enjoy HMB sports.

We hope that soon all restrictions related to the spread of the Coronavirus will be lifted and HMB Soft tournaments will resume.
