Buhurt Next 2022, held in Belgrade on January 22, is remarkable not only because it is the first large-scale international HMB event for a long period. Here, the organizing team and the Marshal Committee members had the opportunity to fully implement several innovations in the rules and regulations of the buhurt categories of fights at once. An HMBIA News reporter asked Sergey Myasishchev, the head of the HMBIA Marshal Committee, to tell us about the results of the test in all details.
“The marshal team consisted of 7 judges from Russia, Ukraine, and Serbia. The tournament turned out to be quite tense, and the marshals and fighters had the opportunity to test all aspects of innovations in tournament practice.
The main innovation was the permission to touch the ground of the lists with a shield or fist of an armed hand of the fighter after a successful throw. It did not cause any controversial issues. On the contrary, it significantly facilitated the work of the marshal brigade and expanded the capabilities of athletes in the implementation of wrestling techniques.
The fighters and marshals have no extra “point of attention”, which allows them to better concentrate on other points”, noted Sergey Myasishchev.
Also, another important innovation has passed the approbation, namely the Captains`fight. According to the updated Regulations for group battles, such a fight can be held in case of multiple draws in the elimination fights, semi-finals, and finals.
“This is probably the most difficult innovation. At Buhurt Next 2022, this situation happened twice. Both times the result was quite obvious. Nevertheless, the Marshals Committee members concluded that the battles of the captains require especially careful testing and development”.
According to the head of the Committee, another rules’ innovation has successfully passed the test of a real tournament. The requirement to use only special areas on the “Top Bar” lists, where a fighter can get a spare weapon during a fight. As Sergey Myasishchev notes, this innovation also did not cause any problems as well.
Let us remind you, that due to the current situation in the world with the spread of Covid-19, only 7 teams were able to take part in the event. Despite this, the Buhurt Next 2022 tournament can be described as an interesting and successful competition and a good start to 2022.
