During the annual General Assembly, a proposal was put forward to extend the mandate of the HMBIA Presidium.

This proposal was brought about due to the extraordinary situation with Covid-19, which made it impossible to implement many HMBIA projects that required the participation of the current president and vice president.

The proposal was unanimously accepted by the national delegates.

The representatives of the Presidium themselves are grateful for the trust and high appreciation of their work in their positions and are ready to continue working for the development of HMB sports around the world.

“I am grateful to all the HMBIA national leaders for trusting me one more year with this exceptional extension of my mandate. The Covid situation asks for out of the norm measures, and they understood that. This decision was necessary mainly for administrative purposes, as we are evolving the legal status of the HMBIA and a couple important processes are being carried out with my name. Also, our work with the GAISF (Global Association of International Sports Federations) has been delayed because of the pandemic and this will allow us and my colleagues to finalize some steps with them. It represents one more year of important responsibility for me and I will do my best to carry it out at the level of expectation everyone has in me and my team”, said Edouard Eme, the HMBIA president.

First of all, this is great news for the HMBIA Presidium and the entire HMB movement. Edouard is not a person to leave incomplete work, especially given the importance of the projects which have been delayed due to Covid. Secondly, I think it comes as no surprise. If we look at what he has done for HMB since the beginning of his tenure, it was a logical choice to extend it and entrust him with this important role. It’s a great pleasure for me to be able to continue to support him as vice-president. Lastly, I thank the members of our participating nations for unanimously voting for an extension to our roles for another year; we will honour your belief in us”, added Gavin Stewart, the vice-president of HMBIA.

We hope that soon the situation related to the proliferation of Covid-19 will be resolved, and the pandemic will be a thing of the past. We still have a lot of joint work to do in order to promote our sport to the masses.
